The protein is from milk and high-quality whey concentrate and the carbohydrates are from fructose (as a sweetner), maltodextrin (the industry standard carb source in mass building products) and oat flour. Oat flour has a low glycaemic index and so is unlikely to cause dramatic fluctuations in insulin and blood sugar that can lead to fat gains. Oat flour is also rich in fibre, which is often just about absent in most supplements.
This formula is designed to cause a slow and sustained release of nutrients to the bloodstream which will not cause large insulin fluctuations which lead to fat storage. The time release absorption principle also means the body has more time to absorb the nutrients and get them to the parts of the body where they are required.
